Millennials and San Diego Group Recreation

Being a millennial myself, I can share a few characteristics on the generation and what Paradise Point is doing to pull these young professionals in for a team building experience they can relate to.

Millennials Are Entrepreneurial
I think we can all agree this generation has a knack for building a business. Paradise Point has implemented a program that taps into this characteristic and helps teams think creatively.  We offer a group recreation program called PIRAHNA TANK, based off the hit TV show Shark Tank, and although you don’t actually win a million dollars, you do get an opportunity to build and pitch ideas that are off the wall and will have your team working together in ways you never imagined. Who can come up with the next million-dollar idea?

Millennials Are Connected
With Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media, it seems they always know what is going on and what is popular. This is just one of the reasons we developed a group recreation program that can bring those great YouTube videos to life during your conference. With KAZAM, you can live out your favorite lip sync battle right here on San Diego’s Island Resort. We can even send your company home with a video of it to relive the moment or well, put it on YouTube.

Millennials Are Collaborative
Now, with open office environments, collaborative brain storming sessions and larger team projects, there is more opportunity to work together. Paradise Point has a group activity that hones in on developing this skill while the group stays at our resort for a meeting. LET THE GAMES BEGIN is our program that gets teams working collaboratively to win a series of minute-to-win-it competitions. Some are mental, some are physical, and by the end your team will learn new skills that will inspire them to utilize their collective smarts in the office.

Millennials Care About Wellness
Young professionals strive for work-life balance to achieve their peak potential, which is why we’ve partnered with Traveler’s Health and Wellness. They’ve curated a menu of renewing wellness seminars and fitness classes designed to help your team maintain a healthy routine even when they’re traveling for a conference. Who knows, they might even discover new techniques.

Millennials Are Compassionate
They understand the importance of giving back and genuinely care about helping the world (think Toms, Project 7 and Hand in Hand). The team at Paradise has designed a group experience with unique team building components and a focus on giving back to the community. CHARITY PUTT-PUTT consists of building a mini golf course out of boxed goods, play a round, then donate! Or BUILD AN ANIMAL challenges teams to assemble the most stuffed animals through a series of obstacles. In the end, animals are donated to children’s hospitals, charities and more!

Millennials Are Curious
Social media has millennials desiring to live experiences authentic to the destination they visit, causing a FOMO (fear of missing out) for their friends back home. We encourage our meeting planners to choose activities that are authentic to beautiful, sunny San Diego. Live like a local and shred waves with a SURF LESSON; carve concrete with a SKATEBOARDING 101 lesson, or compete in an OUTRIGGING REGATTA on Mission Bay with our local outrigger canoe partner, Kai Elua Outrigger Canoe Club. We can’t promise you’ll stay dry!
